The essay Trafficking in Human Beings discusses the process of human trafficking and its complexities in light of the article written by Finnegan (2008). It discusses the types and reasons behind different types of human trafficking and critically explores the process while concluding that all the elements of this complex process are connected to each other.

Trafficking in Human Beings: Human trafficking is growing in the modern world but is still ignored on a very vast scale. Human trafficking is one of the most dangerous activities happening globally and people are earning billions of money every year. Human trafficking can also be classified as modern-day slavery in which the venders bait individuals or groups with fictive promises and assurances of a glamorous, happy life style abroad. Human trafficking victims are usually pooped people who do not have access to the basic necessities of life. It also involves children and young adults who are easily trapped in the lies of the trafficker.

Victims are those who are vulnerable to forced labour and sexual exploitation (Wesley, 2013). The concept of human trafficking differs from the concept of human smuggling. The former involves sale and movement of an individual without their agreement; they are forced into working and are stripped off from all rights and freedom (Narli, n.d.)

Complications of Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is a process which consists of several steps. The basic elements of human trafficking are firstly the act itself, the means of how the act is committed and lastly the reason why the act has taken place. Human trafficking is an also like any other business, it starts from a very basic level and builds up to the stage where extremely influential people are also involved in controlling this business (Finnegan, 2008).

The action begins when the victims are recruited from a small town or a village where the people are most desperate to get an opportunity of a better life. The process then moves to small cities and urban areas. The traffickers decide a location beforehand where the victims are assembled from different areas and then transported to their destinations as pre-planned. Traffickers also travel with the victims to assure they reach the destination and upon arrival, they are sold to the person under whom they will be working. The sale which takes place between the trafficker and buyer is also pre-decided and the instance of a transaction of funds can vary according to the rules of each trafficking mafia (Mahamod, 2013). The National Agency against Trafficking in Persons in Romania published an article based on their studies which shows that in more than 82% of the cases the recruitment took place by directly approaching the victim.

The victim was proposed with a fake yet realistic opportunity like a marriage proposal, a job abroad or any activity in which the victim would receive a hefty amount of money and a good life style. The traffickers themselves act as extremely polished gentlemen and do not provide an opportunity for others to mistrust them (Finnegan, 2008)…
