[fusion_text]The following paper will investigate the health status of the adult population with learning disabilities in the United Kingdom, specifically located in the Berkshire area. Learning disabilities refer to neurological disorders which might create impediments for a student to do basic tasks like reading or writing. A learning disability does not necessarily mean that the patient is not as smart as capable as other neurotypical children but rather demands a system that caters to their needs. There are different kinds of learning disabilities; dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, auditory, and visual processing disorders as well as disorders that cause trouble in interpretation of visual and spatial objects. Learning disability does not refer to the learning complexities that are often caused by hearing or visual disabilities. It also involves emotional disturbance that mostly occurs in cultural environments and intellectual problems which leads to certain disadvantages (Kelly, 2018). Adults experiencing learning disabilities need assistance and encouragement to make them feel that they are not neglected towards their rights and opportunities that are mainly linked with their living concerns. Many research studies indicate that adults experiencing learning disabilities seems highly vulnerable in different societal aspects such as time of loss or bereavement, limited accessibility towards health and care services. According to Mchntosh (2017) studies, it has been reported that there are around 1.5 million population in the United Kingdom experiencing issues related to learning disabilities. This indicates that there is a need for high-level risk assessment is required across the U.K. to resolve rising complexities in the population.

The reason I chose this topic is that we exist in a capitalistic society where the notion of individual labor and effort is deemed the most important when it comes to being successful or attaining success in society. However, since the system fails to support people with disabilities such as those with learning disabilities, it creates an unfair system for them, and hence I wanted to investigate how we can cater to and improve the lives of mental disabilities.

Definition:

Health is defined is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. (World Health Organisation 1948)The WHO defines the attainment of the highest quality of health as a right of every human being irrespective of their gender, race, political belief, etc. (World Health Organisation 1948). It is important to note that this definition is not just limited to symptoms of physical illness but also extends to social and mental well-being which is why my exploration of in adult pop[ulation will also fall under this category since neurological disorders also fall under this definition. It is important to note that this definition takes into account mental and neurological disorders and thus, does not limit the state towards only providing physical health services. It is important to note that the meaning of health has perceptibly altered for the years and the changing discourse and evolution of the social sciences. Rather than limiting health to productivity at work, that is looking at ill health only when it creates impediments in terms of work and productivity.
