The principal purpose of this individual assignment report is to present the key findings and rationale of the selected research topic. The theme that has been chosen for the research is diversity management within the organizations. In this regard, the critical research topic is developing a multicultural society: a strategy to capture a competitive advantage in the retail industry of the UK. The problem has been selected after thorough research and brainstorming with colleagues to pick an appropriate research idea. For this purpose, several research articles were reviewed, four journal articles have been selected that address the critical research themes.

In the article presented by Henry and Evans (2007) addressed the critical review of the literature on workforce diversity. As per the research, workforce diversity has become one of the major concerns for organizations. It is because, the emerging economies, internationalization, and globalization of the business ventures from all over the world. It has become a necessity to manage the diverse workforce and recognize the importance of diversity within the organizations. In this regard, Henry and Evans (2007) defined the critical concept of diversity management within a group that it is a systematic and pre-planned dedication of a team to hire and retain a diverse workforce to promote diversity within the organization. Along with this, several theories and models have been proposed to encourage diversity management. These methods and techniques support the difference between training and development programs. In addition to that, the reason for promoting diversity within organizations is to enhance organizational effectiveness. Consequently, this is useful in developing a positive reputation and attracting talented employees for the team.

Another article has been selected that is about team diversity as a competitive advantage published by Czerny, Steinkellner, and Zehetner (2011). As per the journal article, it has been identified that a diverse range of teams assists in improving organizational effectiveness. A wide range of research studies has been conducted that ensure a positive relationship between both the factors. Along with this, several theories have supported this argument. Among all the methods, Czerny, Steinkellner, and Zehetner (2011) have applied the resource-based view to promoting the cultural diversity within the organization. This technique assesses the organizational resources and capabilities through the employees and management that help in gaining competitive advantage and success to the team. As per resource-based view, the people are the critical internal resource of the team that can be useful to achieve competitive success. In addition to that, this theory focuses that human capital constitutes a sustainable competitive advantage for the business that is valuable, rare and hard to imitate (Czerny, Steinkellner, and Zehetner, 2011)……………..
