Introduction
In the view of Hendry (2012), human resource is the most essential resource for a company which deals with the management and governance of a company’s employees. Various theories have been constructed and developed over time that suggests the best possible strategy to empower the human resource and thereby extract maximum value from employees while ensuring high levels of motivation. Most literature on the subject is geared towards employee management and motivation. The most famous of the theories include Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, theory X and theory Y model of motivation and Herzberg’s motivation-hygiene theory (Khanka, 2007).
