Leadership Development

Introduction

A leader is a person who always ready to take responsibilities and is continuously willing to perform his duties in order to achieve the organizational along with his team members in an effective and efficient way.

It is necessary for the leader to prove him a colossal and gigantic person so that the team members will get inspire from their leader. An effective leader always performs his actions in order to increase the growth of the business is known as leadership. It has been researched that management of the organizations sets out the usual actions whereas the vision, mission and profitable growth of the organization emphasized by leadership.

However, in order to perform effective leadership, six types of leadership behavior have been identified in order to work with the team member in an effective ways such behaviors are; Leadership Development autonomous leaders, benevolent leaders, participative leaders, self-centered leaders, compassionate leaders and transformational leaders (House et al., 1999). It is the duty of an effective leader to lead the organization in a proper manner.

It has been identified that there are two leadership styles such as strategic leadership and operational leadership. Strategic leader creates the vision of the organization whereas, operational leader implement that vision along with his team members. A leader should communicate with his team members in order to motivate them regarding the achievement of the organizational goals (Dyer et al., 2005). A leader performs his task along with his team members therefore there must be some workers belong to different cultures. Therefore,

it is the responsibility of an effective leader to lead the team by diminishing the cultural differences. Furthermore, a leader should assign the duties to the member of the team in accordance with their abilities and skills. Leader should guide, supervise and administer his team members as well as should maintain a trustworthy relationship with his team members (Morrill, 2010)

This report reflect my own leadership skills, behavior, style and approach that I adopt in order to perform my task as a leader in the multinational organization. The management of my organization assigned me a project to lead it along with twenty team members. However, there were some team members that belong to different cultures and ethnic background. Therefore, I need to adopt a leadership style in order to attain the organizational goal within a specified time period. While leading the project,

I thought that I will inspire my team members through my actions and words. I thought that I will guide them, supervise them and communicate them all the norms and standards before start working on the project. My aim was to retain the team members and build a trust worth and long-lasting relationship with the team members.

This is one of the ways to make the team members loyal towards the leader. Moreover, my aim was build a goal oriented team. Thus, it was necessary for me to adopt an effective leadership style in order to perform the task. Researchers described that there are three different leadership styles….
