Literature Review

1.0 Introduction

The literature review is based on the discussion and the analysis of the different projects of Airbus A-350 and A-380 that are related to operators along with the analysis of the incidents and the accidents that the flights of Airbus have suffered. Furthermore, the analysis also includes the statistical presentation of the incidents related to Airbus.

2.0 The Airbus A-350 & A-380 projects focusing on the operators

Airbus is the world’s leading manufacturer of aircraft which is involved in the manufacturing of family of passenger aircraft and corporate jets along with the production of military transports.

Airbus is specialized in the manufacturing of the latest single passage and aircraft that has a wide body. However, the company is primarily renowned for providing customized services to its clients.

Considering the recent demands of the passengers, Airbus had recently booked over 4,500 orders for their new engines along with the orders of 12,500 that have been placed by Airbus for their aircraft family by the name of A320 (Airbus, 2015).

Airbus has been involved in the sale of more than 1,000 aircraft in 2015 which resulted in organization becoming the largest aircraft around the globe (Fortune, 2015). The airlines that have been using A350 and A380 are as follows:

The airlines that have been using Airbus 350 are Aer Lingus, Aer Cap, Air Asia, Air France, Air Mauritius, British Airways, Cathay Pacific and Delta etc (A350wb, 2016).

On the other hand the airlines that have been using Airbus A380 are Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Qantas, Air France, Lufthansa, Korean Air, Malaysian Airlines, British Airways, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways (Airbus, 2015).

The latest amount of deliveries of A-350 and A-380 has been presented in the table below:

The above presented table indicates that the recent delivery of A330/A340/A350 is 1689; whereas, the total delivery of A380 has been indicated as 319 (Airbus, 2015).

3.0 Presentation of Airbus A-350 & A-380 incidents and accidents

Over the years there have been many incidents that aircraft of Airbus have faced while carrying out their operations. One of the incidents that took place with Airbus A-350 took place when one of its flights was flying from Amsterdam to Singapore.

It was reported that the aircraft had suffered from hydraulic failure and the management was unable to vacate the runway. The incident took place on the 19th of June 2016.

The other such incident took place on March 7th, 2016,Airbus A-350 / A-380 projects flight safety records which is related to a bird strike on the flight that was coming from Manaus to Sao Paolo. When the flight left the runway of Manaus, a vulture collided with the left-hand wing of the aircraft.

However,Airbus A-350 / A-380 projects flight safety records the crew decided to continue the flight at FL350 about 140nm south of Manuas. Furthermore, it was learnt that members of the crew decided that at the level of FL350 they should return to Manaus for the purpose safe landing on the runway (Aeroinside, 2016).
