1.    Executive Summary

The report aims to produce a National Energy Outlook Report for China till 2030 The report focuses on long-term energy supply and demand projections from 2015 till 2030.

The report discussed that the demand and supply of energy has increased year on year in the past except the year 2009; the energy demand and supply growth was negative in the year 2009 due to the global financial recession.

The report also discusses that the usage of Coal as a source of energy is very high in China as 66% of the domestic energy is produced by using Coal. The energy demand and supply is expected to grow till the year 2030 at a steady rate but there will be a shortage of supply in each year till 2030.

The report also discusses the global and local energy drivers including the importance of economic factors, population, urbanization and industrialization. The reports finds that there is a negative impact of usage of Coal energy on the climate so the China aims to decrease the usage of Coal over the years.

The modern technology is employed by China to make the usage of Coal cleaner and explore the energy sources including renewable. The modern technology will play a significant role to make the supply of energy efficient and cost effective by the year 2030.

2.    Introduction

According to U.S. EIA (2015), China is world’s most populous country and it is one of the fastest growing economies around the world. The population and economic growth has led the country to biggest consumer and producer of the energy.

As the demand for energy is increasing in China rapidly, the China has got a significant influence in the world of energy. The country was net energy exporter until the early 1990’s but it became world’s 2nd largest net importer in 2009.

In the year 2013, the country surpassed United States and became the largest net importer of energy due to increased demand. As mentioned in a report by Wang (2014), the growth in energy consumption in China accounted for 43% of the growth in global energy consumption.

Rapid urbanization in China is one of the main factors contributing to energy consumption growth in the country. The energy demand is further expected to increase in the years to come; this report aims to discuss the energy outlook from the year 2015 till 2030.

2.1 Aim of the Report

The report aims to produce a National Energy Outlook Report for fastest growing economy of the world i.e. China. The report focuses on long-term energy supply and demand projections from 2015 till 2030.

2.2 Objectives of the Report

The main objectives of the report are as follows:

  • To critically analyse the demand and supply of energy with reference to China.
  • To identify the past long-term trends of energy demand and supply in the economy of China.
  • To report the forecasts for energy demand and supply of China.

3.    Energy Outlook for China

3.1 Historical Trends of Production and Consumption

According to Enerdata (2015a), the production and consumption of energy have increased constantly. As of year 2014, China is the top energy consumer with the consumption of 3034 MTOEs (Million Tons of Oil Equivalent) followed by United States with the consumption of 2224 MTOEs………
