Introduction

The report discusses the role of education in the development of a nation. It considers a certain aspect of education i.e., educating the women. Some of the research findings are being discussed in the report about socio-economic benefits of women education. Further, it considers that how the social gains are being achieved by women’s schooling. It then discusses various policies and recommendations for promoting education for women. States and societies “develop” with time, this is the main idea of concern. It is a normal perception that “development” deals with the idea that “something is getting improved somehow”. This perception is not known and it has occurred in a lot various societies, in fact, this idea goes back to the time of Aristotle (Zajda, 2004). There are a lot of controversial and varied theories and perceptions on the causes, aims and nature of “development” (Haynes, 2008: Pieterse, 2010: Wallner, 2008). For the sake of this assignment, the theories which are concerned with the education’s role, especially of women’s education in development, are being considered.

With time, it has become more difficult, versatile and sophisticated to measure the development.

This is because now there are varied social indicators for measuring the development of any nation i.e., it includes gender, health, environmental protection, well being and education e.t.c. INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

The annual publication of UNUP (United Nations Development Program) made most probably the most prestigious and authoritative statement on the development issue because otherwise, it seemed very difficult to consider one state as “developing” and other as “developed”. The statement made by UNUP is being highlighted in the Report on Human Development.
