Factors Affecting The Use Of Mental Health, Mental health services are being provided all around the world on different terms and conditions to immigrants, refugees and other ethnic groups of minorities which need to be properly recognized and treated for the new comers because when they migrate, they face a number of difficulties including language, culture, laws, rules, procedures and regulations, Factors Affecting The Use Of Mental Health after migration the relocation difficulties are also faced by the immigrants and also during migration a minor level of stress is also tolerated by the immigrants (Laurence J.Kirmayer,2010).
A study was conducted to determine the use of mental health-related services having a focus on the factors related to immigration by using both qualitative and quantitative factors, Factors Affecting The Use Of Mental Health quantitative factors such as any specialty and general mental health services while individual happiness and satisfaction is the qualitative factor. A huge number of sample size was taken which was about 2095 Asian Americans. Since most of the Asian Americans are born outside the United States so they face great difficulty in understanding the culture and language when they migrate to the United States.
The perception of receiving mental health related services by the Asian American immigrants is different as compared to those who reside in the United States, so it is a challenge for the mental health service providers to properly recognize their needs and give treatment according to that. The study evaluated three types of services related to mental health which include the area of expertise of mental health service by a psychiatric specialist, general therapeutic service by a doctor and any homoeopathic service by a healer. individual satisfaction and happiness was also measured in percentages by using the Likert scale.
The results of the study showed that during the period of twelve months, about 8.6 percent of the Asian American immigrants required help from the healer, about 4 percent immigrants required service from a doctor and about 3 percent of the immigrants required service from the psychiatric specialist. As compared to the general residents, the Asian American immigrants had the lowest rating of the use mental health service. (Jennifer Abe-Kim, 2007).
A transversal study based on the inhabitants of Ontario, Canada was conducted which realized the importance of different pre and post-immigration experiences faced by the immigrants. The pre-immigration experiences include the cultural and language difficulties while the post-immigration experiences faced by them include their relocation to another country. On the basis of these diverse experiences faced by the immigrants, they look for help and health services.
