International Education & Globalisation
Background of the Problem
Over the years, the world is developing and transiting from conventional means of communication and learning to contemporary channels of paramount and competent learning methods via the process of Globalization and Modernization (Crozet & Chantal, 2017). The advancement in the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) has enhanced dramatically leading to the foundation of the smartphones and application-based learning mechanisms at adequate prices and higher flexibility. The following research outlines the influence of CHC (Confucius Heritage Culture) on the Chinese learners that are integrating the application oriented mechanism to learn the second language: English and comply with the international standards of the human proficiency. CHC is a term that refers to the individuals residing in China, Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Taiwan who share the mutual belief of Confucian heritage (Wong & Ngai-Ying, 2008). The application which is used by the Chinese learners is Hello Pal. It is a user-friendly application which enables the learners to communicate in the language, which they are learning with real users to enhance their competency and replace the traditional means of teaching linguistics. Apparently due to globalization, standard trends have been developed across the globe pertaining to the proficiency of the individuals, due to the fact that communication channels have become diverse and expanded, where any individual can communicate by transcending the language and medium barriers.
International Education Globalization is defined as the procedure, which enhances the social interaction of the individuals through the fortification of the communication channels and international flow of ideas, money, and culture. Primarily, it is an economic mechanism for the social and cultural collaboration among the individuals living across the borders. Often during this exchange, due to lack of mutual grounds for understanding and interacting such as language obstructions, the process is immensely affected. In the light of the research motives, the Chinese learners are learning a different language in order to study abroad in the United Kingdom and showcase their linguistic competencies (Kumaravadivelu & Bala., 2008). Globalization additionally encompasses the transference of goods and services like assignment writing service along with the economic resources of data, capital, and technology. It has established an interdependence among the social and economic practices and apparent advancements in the telecommunication fronts such as the concept of a smartphone and cyber chat rooms. Another underpinning for the learning of a uniform language is internationalization of thoughts and knowledge. The learning of English is becoming a basic pre-requisite for the attainment of International Education (Altbach, G., & Knight, 2007). The study also aims to explore the linguistic orientation of the Chinese youth in order to conclude the explanations behind the apparent increase in the learning of the following language. The individuals are travelling from one country to another in order to attain international academic honors and excel in their lives proficiently.
International Education One of the most significant and fastidious development in the field of information technology is the popularization of smartphone, the learning process are shifting from books to applications for the adaptation of new linguistic capabilities (Crozet & Chantal, 2017). Learning with the help of smartphone application is evidently argumentative because, it has lack of interpersonal teaching and make the student more systematic rather than skilled. The following statement will be comprehensively discussed in the following research to enlighten the education practitioners about the inclusion of cyber learning and how competent it has been recently. Moreover, the research also intends to identify the role of CHC in motivating the Chinese learners and what do they prefer while opting for the application named as Hello Pal for learning the international language. Hello Pal is an application for learning different language with high rating on the app store, and has fascinated many learners in order to complete their pursuit of learning English language (Wong & Ngai-Ying, 2008).
International Education is a prospering domain and contains various argumentative and essential problems which are required to be evaluated in order to explore the explanations behind the youth orientation for the smart learning of international language. Considering the hereunder synopsis of the research problem, the following segment of the study aims to elaborate the statement of the problem for setting parameters of the research.
Statement of the Problem.
Seemingly, the world is advancing promptly in the telecommunication dimensions and learning procedures are becoming cyber and smart rather than traditional teaching methods. However, the inclusion of the smartphone mechanisms have accelerated and diversified the learning potential of many Chinese learner. Therefore, the research pursues to elaborate the repercussions of smart learning procedures in the light of Confucius Heritage culture findings regarding how the learners are using Hello Pal application for learning the international language used by the foreigners to overcome the language barriers. However, several theories are also integrated in the study for underpinning the conceptual framework such as modernization, internationalization and globalization. In order to obtain the findings aligned with the objectives of the study, the following fragment of the research aims to shed light on the study parameters that is aims and objectives of the study.International Education.
Aims and Objectives.
The aim of the study is to shed light on the productivity and effectiveness of the application ‘Hello Pal’ for language learning from various social and cultural perspectives and bridge the knowledge gaps for the future research pertaining to the impact of cultural orientation on the language learning mechanism.
Moreover, the objectives of the research are:
- To explore the CHC influence on the Chinese learners, which are endeavoring to study in foreign universities for the post graduate programs or similar (By embedding the western standpoint and arguing the idea of learning uniform language).
- To practically evaluate the overview of the Chinese learners to application developers for additionally referring the explanations that attracts the Chinese learners.
- To enlighten the linguistic practitioners located in China and foreign countries in order to develop competent teaching pedagogies for learning inside and outside the classroom.
Purpose of the Study
Contemporarily, the economy and academic honors are increasingly becoming globalized and this indicates that many of the individuals are required to communicate across various cultures. Considering such economic and academic growth, the Chinese learners are required to learn the second language from viable means and conduct business to enhance the economic situation of their home countries. Therefore, while learning the English language the Chinese practitioners have opt for the smart learning procedures, which is Hello Pal application, which leads to efficient learning of the English language. However, an explanation behind the leading preference of smart learning is the integration of Confucius Heritage Culture (Crozet & Chantal, 2017). Apart from economy, the usage of smart teaching pedagogies has accelerated the learning potential of the ambitious Chinese learners. Hello Pal enables the learners to practically use the newly learnt language with the potential users in order to test its efficiency. Therefore, the following research proposes to scrutinize the effectiveness of the Hello Pal and how the CHC are influencing the individual choices and making the international education adaptive and qualitative. However, a leading conflict of interest lies in the finding that some teaching perspectives do not prefer the smart learning and articulate that new languages must be adopted conventionally. Thus, it is vital to comprehensively evaluate the research questions of the study and explore whether Confucius heritage culture are influencing the Chinese learners for smartphone learning or is it a repercussion of technological globalization (Wong & Ngai-Ying, 2008). The following section elaborate the abovementioned research questions explicitly.
Research Questions
The research questions are the academic dimensions of the research, which the study aims to address by elaborating the former literature and also explaining the findings of the following study. The following are the research questions developed for the herein research problem:
- Why do Confucius Heritage Culture influence the Chinese learners who are intending to study in the foreign institutes prefer the following application Hello Pal, instead of other mediums? What do they find comfortable and uncomfortable about it?
- Does the summarization of CHC learners among this particular case in terms of learning preferences or learning habits are adopted from the western trends? Or there are different grounds for this preferences.
- Does the global changes such as Internationalization, globalization, and modernization influence the Chinese learner preferences?
- What is the optimum channel for learning international language for the Chinese learners?
Significance of the Research
Smart learning is becoming a common interest for the practitioners of different fields across the world. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the influences that leads to the inclusion of the smart learning of the linguistics. There has been a prevalent research gap among the social perspective on the language learning in the former studies. Therefore, the following research is significant to understudy the inclusion of smart pedagogies for learning linguistic and apparent influences of dominant culture on the procedure. The succeeding fragment of the study aims to delineate the research structure of the study.
