All the topics you mentioned in the email are of importance for the staff to understand. I will be explaining them one by one in the coming emails. But today we will talk about the most important one: Team Working. In the coming sections I will explain what a team is and differentiate it from a group. Then we discuss how teams are formed, the signs for effectiveness and how to avoid breaking teams.
Discussion
Teamwork:
Teamwork refers to a process where more than one professional has attained common skills and shares the same organizational goal and who practices concerted bodily or mental power for achieving the common goal (Costa & Anderson, 2017).
Managing People: Employees have the tendency to form groups. Such might come from formal grouping or informal contact with each other. This ensures continuity, for example if one employee leaves his job, other people can be hired to fill in his place. Employees work with each other to perform such jobs and connect such jobs to achieve objectives as a whole. Formal work groups have an appointed leader. Such groups form its own characteristics and culture (Jackson et al, 2014).
The individual Approach:
According to this approach the work should be divided into properly specialized jobs and trained individuals should be hired to perform such specific job functions.
The team approach:
Contrary to the previous approach, this approach is based on the views that people working together as a team are more productive in performing the work (Meyer, 2016).
Merits and Demerits of Team working for a Business:
Managing People: The merits of team working include synergy. People develop a positive perception of the work and make social relationships within companies. It is one of the duties of the management to get the best performance out of the employees working for them (Kozlowski et al, 2015).
