INTRODUCTION

 

 

Purpose of Plan

 

Schlumberger Limited (NYSE: SLB), a US based parent company specializes in supplying of technology, information solutions to the multinational and local Oil and Gas industry producers and integrated project management. In addition to this, the company mainly operates via three main categories which include: Drilling, Production and Oil Reservoir. The purpose of this project is to prepare an online training program for existing employees. With time corporate are moving from manual working routine to automation, and the reliance on e learning is tremendously increasing, since such initiatives are valuable and cost effective to ensure employees focus and asses the technical expertise via online assessments.

With reference to above information provided, it also covers various advantages of online training programs, particularly how online trainings can be helpful to the customers of the company, if the company’s employees are well trained with respect to technology and many other factors. Every company tries its best to satisfy their customers in order to capture more market share, and this can be done via a perfect employees training in order to assess the customer psyche and his/her needs.   The focus is primarily on online training programs, as the companies have changed their way of dealing with customers and developing an effective human resource function.

Project Teams & Roles

In the process of preparing an effective online training manual, it is the responsibility of senior management and concerned departments to decide on different teams and their roles that are considered to be the best outcome for the employee’s training. The business should be comprises of the following teams.

  • Finance Team: The Finance team is responsible for all the cost that are associated with online training programs, in addition to this they are responsible to capture and monitor cost per each employee and revenue that will be generated per employee in long term. The objective of every finance manager is to maximize the shareholder value and that can be achieved via maximizing the revenue and minimizing the cost.
  • Project Management Team: The objective of Project Manager or project team requires effective collaboration, whereas company is focusing on tools like video conferencing software or any other source of mean is being used. The project manager will be responsible that all selected employees for training are holding regular or scheduled meetings, sharing different kind of documents to support each other and keep tracking on each and everything to make sure that designed training program is useful for company and its staff.Project Management.
  • Logistics Team: The team is responsible for timely deliverables and for all the required equipment, in order to conduct effective training program. However, any discontinuation in program due to lack of resources or any other required equipment not available, logistics leader will be responsible for it.
  • Human Resource Management: They are completely accountable and responsible of assessing employees training needs. In addition to this, it is HR and Line managers’ responsibility to select the individuals who require training and what sort of skill an employee lacks and how that gap can fulfilled.

Project Stages

The project stages are comprised of the following stages:

  • Planning. Planning is considered to be one of the important tools for any strategic shift for the company. Considering Schlumberger, which specializes in technology and information solutions to oil and gas extraction giants is looking to train its employees via online training program. Since the company is taking such initiative that means, there is something going on within management that may be going forward they might sell their products via online platforms. It also includes the time period for each employee and the frequency of training per month, quarter or year.

 

  • Information Technology and Support Infrastructure: As per my understanding, success of every business depends on few factors such as technology, right people for right job,  and clear future vision of business, what needs to be achieved and how it can be achieved. In addition to the above information, companies or businesses that choose the path of innovation increase their market share, financial numbers and overall strategic competitiveness. In every business, IT and support infrastructure teams support business function with respect to any technical error causes in mid of operation that may cause any losses or damages to the company.

 

  • Execution: As discussed above, execution and operation team work together as a single team to execute the plan what has been decided. How to mitigate the different operational risk to avoid losses, if it does not work as per planned instructions. So the execution team will be responsible for all the front line problems and solution to the mentors and mentee.

 

  • Feedback: There are always different alternatives available in order to improve collaboration between mentor and mentee or develop more clear and effective online training program. Feedback is very important in order to analyze what was lacked during the whole process and how it can be further rectified in the next review or initiatives. At this stage, all the concerned departments are responsible to collect the data from audience and use it in meaningful form to minimize any further deficiencies going forward….
