the sympathetic nervous system: Myofascial release technique, a form of soft tissue mobilisation, is used by physiotherapist in the management of non-specific low back pain. Some researchers have reported that the lumbar dorsal horn receives nociceptive input from the nociceptive free nerve endings of the thoracolumbar fascia, hence the involvement of the thoracolumbar fascia in low back pain. Some researchers have also investigated the neurophysiological effects of soft tissue mobilisation on the parasympathetic nervous system using some techniques of soft tissue mobilisation. However, no research has assessed the neurological effects of myofascial release technique on the sympathetic nervous system.
