Abstract

To examine and evaluate whether integrated care pathways improve the process of patient care in stroke wards.

Chapter 1:

Stroke has been regarded as the fourth leading cause of mortality in the UK. Due to its increasing prevalence, NHS included stroke in its five-year plan and presented guidelines to deliver better and effective care for stroke patients. Several types of research provided the benefits of multidisciplinary care for treating acuity ill patients. Multidisciplinary or integrated care delivered through a multidisciplinary team (MDT) has proven useful for stroke patients in acute care wards.

Chapter 2:

The present study utilized a systematic review method to analyze the current studies focused on MDT care for stroke patients. The PICO framework was used to search for keywords. The online libraries were accessed to make a potential study pool. After a thorough screening, three articles were chosen for the study. The studies were critically appraised using the CASP tool.

Chapter 3:
