The waste management in Romania is primarily focused on the deforestation and conservation of water to improve the overall environment of the nation. The Romanian Government believes that the sustainable practices regarding waste management can lead to the negation of climate change around the globe as well. Laws of Waste generation: It indicates that like other governments, the Romanian government has also focused on the waste management to save its environment. Conversely, there has been the keen focus by the state of United Kingdom to ensure green practices and efficient waste management throughout the country. The country has formed a specialized institution named the Friends of Earth, which solely focuses on the formation of laws to efficiently manage the waste and at the same time ensure that there is an active mitigation in the field of waste management. The institution has been very busy over the years given that it has enabled the government to form multiple laws and implement those rules effectively
Laws of Waste generation: According to Marshall & Farahbakhsh (2013) despite the higher effectiveness of the Friends of Earth, the UK still experiences one of the lowest recycling rates around the globe and highlights that further focus is required by the government and regulatory authorities in the field of waste management. Further, it is analyzed by Edjabou et al., (2015) that the waste management laws and practices vary significantly among the UK and Romania which is due to the difference in policy measures undertaken by their government. Research Rationale
The rationale of this research is to make the considerations on the waste management and mitigation by the laws and practices that are being observed in the countries of Romania and United Kingdom. The highlights of the study will be focusing mainly on the comparison of what sort of practices makes the states to be different in the waste management. As mentioned before, that waste management handling is one of the essential aspects of building a nation productive and safe in various manners . From the health perspectives to the economic valuation of this management, the research will discuss all of the points that could make the countries to be affected by their strategies of waste generation.
Application of the Research in the 21st Century
In the view of Kalu, Ajaruonye, & Okwara (2016) the waste management regulations have strengthened in the recent years considering the rate of increase of global pollution and its adverse impacts on the human health and environment in general. The current research focuses on the comprehensive analysis of waste management regulations, principles and practices of UK and Romania. Therefore, it will help understand how the methods and their effectiveness vary across the countries.
The research is applicable in the modern era as the study of the techniques and principles of UK and Romania will help the readers understand their strong and weak points. It also helps them understand how these two and other countries can shape their waste management laws, regulations and practices to achieve the higher efficiency over the next years. It must be noted that the waste management is under light over the last few years by both the developed and developing countries; therefore, the research is highly applicable across the globe in the 21st century.
Problem Statement
The researchers explored in the context of the reasons of what makes the countries of Romania and UK to be different regarding their economic and socio-economic factors. It was identified that waste management is one of the critical aspects of dealing in a country. The researchers then went on to explore the theme with more depth and were unable to find literature in the same context. It was later identified that there lies a gap in the exploration of what practices of waste management make each of the country different. Thus, the comparison of both countries in relevance with the policies, laws, and practices in waste generation and management was taken into account as a researchable gap.
Research Objectives
The primary purpose of this research is to compare the British and Romanian waste management strategies and laws/practices over the years. Further, the objectives include the following:
