Chapter 1- Introduction

Recruitment and selection are the core practice of an organisation in order to achieve the objective. A company needs to have a strong team in order to perform well and acquire customers as per their products or services. A competent workforce and a team are fundamental to drive towards success (Meirowitz, 2019). The corporate goals and objectives cannot be achieved without appropriate skills and resources. Employees are considered to be a determinant factor that helps decide whether a company is going o be profitable or not. For instance, Tesla plans to create an Electric car but does not have an engineer specialising in that relevant field. The plans and objectives go in vain. On the contrary, the right person for the right position can help in the overall growth of an organisation and direct it towards positive results. Recruitment and selection is a complex process, especially where the talent is limited or the business environment is uncertain. The recruitment systrm and  process help attract the right person for the right position at the right time. The skills and competency and skills of the candidate are required for the roles  (Hatahet, 2019). The definition of selection is to choose from a pool of candidates who best fits the criteria and can contribute toward organisational success. An organisation has to have a strong recruitment and selection system in order to opt for the best candidate. Along with recruitment and selection, a special focus of HR is to retain the best talent, which helps decrease the turnover rate. These considerations are complicated, expensive and time-consuming but have great significance in keeping the organisation operating in a smooth manner. HR specialists os an organisation need to be effective and have the right strategy to deal with the level of complexity, complications and cost (El-Badaway, & Hady, 2014)….
